Counselor's Corner

Hello! My name is Ana Morales, I am a proud Houston, Texas native with Mexican roots. My family is from Monterrey, Mexico, a city I am very fond of and is my second home.

I attended Texas A&M University graduating with a Psychology major, received my Masters in Teaching through Relay Graduate School of Education, and further defined my counseling skills with a Masters in Professional School Counseling from Houston Christian University.

I began my education journey in Dallas, Texas where I found my passion for social emotional learning in schools. I taught in surrounding Houston areas from the south west to north west communities. I have worked in different grade levels gaining a total of 7 years of teaching experience all while adhering to different community and student needs.

I am extremely passionate about the impact social emotional learning has on students' academic and overall success. My promise to the school community is to attend to student and community social emotional needs in order to drive student success and guide students in reaching their full potential.

In my leisure time I like to travel, spend time with my family, stay active, watch sports, eat delicious meals, and go on long walks with my dog. I am very empathetic in nature, maintain an open mindset in all aspects of my life, and embrace everyone’s personal stories. My door is always open and I am always here to listen.

Individual Counseling

All students must deal with difficult issues sometime during their school career. These concerns sometimes include conflicts with other students as well as stressful family changes. The counselor is here to help students work through individual problems they may be facing in order to help them be successful here at school.

Group Counseling

Group counseling provides a unique opportunity for students to be encouraged by others at the same age who are facing similar problems. Counseling groups are offered according to the needs of students and may include such issues as bullying, divorce, grief, self esteem and friendship.

Classroom Guidance Lessons

The most effective way to meet the needs of the greatest number of students is through providing classroom guidance lessons. These lessons may be led by the Counselor or the classroom teacher. They include topics that are relevant to the entire school population such as character education, conflict resolution skills, career development, studying and test taking skills and drug prevention.
